GCSE
GCSE maths brings all previous maths learning together into a cohesive whole, allowing the student to apply their knowledge to unseen questions whilst also allowing them to learn plenty of new maths at the same time. If your child wants to take A Levels, most schools insist that they pass their GCSE maths. In order to carry on doing maths at A-level, the school will further require them to achieve a grade of 6 or above in their GCSE Maths. Your child might still be unsure what they would like to do after GCSEs so it is important that they keep their options open for as long as possible. Depending on whether your child is on the Foundation or Higher specification for maths, they will encounter many new topics and areas of study. For example, unseen topics for foundation students might include fractions, sequences and the solving of quadratic equations whilst higher students will most likely cover additional topics such as circle theorems, surds and transformations of curves. In all cases, there are lots of problem solving questions and new maths techniques to learn!
I offer GCSE maths tuition both face-to-face and online for all examination boards, including AQA, Edexcel, OCR and IGCSE.
